"Det kan godt være, at de fire musikere i Den Danske Strygekvartet ser sjuskede ud. Deres musik er det ikke. Den gnistrer og ryger af fart og energi, men det er en ekstremt kontrolleret vildskab ... Brahms strygekvartetmusik ... spillet helt forrest på beatet med livet som indsats ... Tonen i Haydns stykke med tilnavnet Lærkekvartetten er ren og skær og letfodet. Med et bølgende, gyldent skær over sig. Og så er den vemodig og elegant på samme tid ... Der behøver ikke gå fem år før den næste skive".

"The Danish String Quartet ... still have the puppyish energy they had 11 years ago, but now that enthusiasm has the lustre of maturity that was missing in their earliest recordings of the Nielsen quartets ... These works are both virtuoso in their own way ... and is given its own validity and bounce by the energy with which it is playes ... The overaching feeling one gets when listening to the Haydn is of light and space - a sense that is carried over to the Brahms, but perhaps with less reason ... You really are compelled to listen with keener ears, which is ultimately what this work really needs".
